QUETTA: Two teams of law enforcement agencies were searching for son of Balochistan local government minister six hours after he reportedly went missing.
The authorities said Asad Khan, son of Sardar Mustafa Tareen might have been kidnapped, without elaborating further. Balochistan Inspector General Police Ahsan Mehboob said two teams have been set up under Quetta Regional Police Officer (RPO) and DIG Crimes to ascertain the whereabouts of the minister’s son. “Some suspects have been taken into custody during raids in Quetta, Qilla Abdull and Pasheen,” private TV channel quoted the IG as saying.
“Unknown armed men kidnapped the son of Balochistan’s local government minister from the Cadet College area of Pishin,” said District Police Officer (DPO) Pishin Hayee Baloch.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawaz Sanaullah Zehri has taken notice of the incident and has ordered the provincial police to increase their efforts for the recovery of the minister’s son. DPO Pishin did not share details of the arrested suspects.
Tareen was elected as an MPA from Pishin district in 2013, and is affilitated with Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party. Militants have conducted attacks against security forces and national installations in Balochistan, which has been plagued by an insurgency and growing sectarian killings for more than a decade.
