Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, strongly criticized India for its handling of the Pahalgam attack. Instead of presenting any solid evidence linking Pakistan to the incident, Sharif claimed that India has escalated its crackdown in Kashmir, destroying 50 homes and arresting over 2,500 Kashmiris. These actions are part of a broader campaign to oppress the Kashmiri Muslim population, he argued.
The Pahalgam incident has sparked controversy, with India blaming Pakistan for allegedly sending terrorists across the border. However, Sharif pointed out the improbability of such claims, given the geographical location of Pahalgam, which is 230 kilometers from the border. He further noted that the police arrived just 10 minutes after the attack, which would be impossible under normal circumstances, raising doubts about the authenticity of India’s allegations. Additionally, Indian media quickly spread the narrative of Pakistan̵7;s involvement, even before any investigation could be conducted, according to Sharif.
DG ISPR also highlighted India’s historical use of terrorist incidents for political purposes. He referenced the 2019 Pulwama attack, where India accused Pakistan without providing credible evidence. He urged India to stop making baseless accusations and instead focus on providing proof if Pakistan was truly involved. He reiterated that Pakistan has always asked for transparent investigations into such events, but India has failed to present any verifiable evidence to support its claims.
Moreover, DG ISPR condemned the ongoing violence against the people of Kashmir. He revealed that the Indian military continues to target innocent civilians, falsely labeling them as terrorists. He shared the heartbreaking stories of two brothers who were killed by Indian forces while searching for livestock near the Line of Control (LoC). DG ISPR emphasized that this pattern of violence is a systematic effort by India to cover up its human rights violations in Kashmir and to shift blame onto Pakistan.
DG ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan̵7;s determination to fight terrorism, emphasizing that India has been actively sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan for years. He pointed out that India’s false accusations against Pakistan are part of a larger plan to deflect attention from its actions in Kashmir. DG ISPR called on the international community to hold India accountable and demanded that India provide concrete evidence for its claims. Pakistan, he assured, will continue to defend its sovereignty and respond appropriately to any threats, and the military remains on high alert.
